“We’ve been jamming”: Rema spills the TEA upon the release of his new single

Upon the release of his new single TEA, afrobeats artist Rema let’s us in on 7 things we should know about him.
It was his 2019 sun-soaked single Dumebi which first put afrobeats singer-songwriter and rapper Rema on to the musical map in his native Nigeria. The debut single, now sitting comfortably at over 194 million streams, earned him a record label signing with pioneering music executive D’Prince, and kickstarted his ascent to global stardom.
Since then, he’s had collaborations with Skepta, PinkPantheress, Ayra Starr and Selena Gomez, and became the most-streamed Nigerian artist on YouTube. His sophomore album HEIS saw him gain official industry recognition with a 2025 Grammy nomination for Best Global Music Album.
2026 has been no different for the 26 year-old. He continued to soar on the global stage with a performance at the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup, alongside LISA of BLACKPINK and Brazilian singer Anitta.
