Aaron Pierre makes his DC Universe debut as John Stewart in HBO’s Lanterns

British actor Aaron Pierre is set to take on the role of the DC Universe’s John Stewart in the supernatural HBO series.
After dominating our screens with his breakout performance in Netflix’s Rebel Ridge, Aaron Pierre has become a force to be reckoned with. Since graduating in performing arts from the renowned LAMDA drama school in 2016, the 32-year-old thespian has taken Hollywood by storm with performances in Apple TV+’sThe Morning Show and Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King. His charm and charisma go well beyond his roles, with the British actor also experiencing personal virality after an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show in 2025. The same demand for Pierre persists in 2026. After a successful theatre run in London’s West End, the actor has taken a step into the world of the supernatural in Lanterns, an eight-part DC Universe series releasing this week on HBO.
We recently joined the actor behind the scenes at his “home away from home”, London’s The Old Vic theatre, during his time as the lead in One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest.
