Lydia Garnett explores the ‘luxury of doing nothing’ in her new short film Playing House
The London-based photographer and director Lydia Garnett challenges the notion of traditional gender roles in her new short film, premiering with EE72.
British director Lydia Garnett has never been afraid to start important conversations through her work. It’s this bold and beautiful approach to her artistry which has landed her collaborations with Dior, adidas and Nike, amongst others, and the 2025 award for Best Special Project at the UKMVAs.
Her next project, premiering with EE72, is no exception. The chirp of birds soundtracks the film, Playing House, which puts the notion of domestic bliss in a modern-day context and celebrates the ‘luxury of doing nothing’. “It explores domesticity and intimacy, and ideas of belonging and performance that take place within the ‘ideal family home’,” Garnett explains of her latest project.
