EMMA D’ARCY
Emma D’Arcy made a name for themselves on House of the Dragon. Outside of its third season, they’ll be taking to the stage as their theatre show, The Other Place, heads to New York.
If your life right now were a scene in a film, what would the opening shot be?
A GUY, (30s), sits on a CHAIR. It COLLAPSES.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Don’t eat that, it’s not edible!
When did you realize this was what you wanted to do, and that you weren’t meant to play it safe?
All I ever wanted was a life in which I could do the thing I love, some of the time. I’m very fortunate that I can now do that thing most of the time. There was never a conscious choice around living creatively versus playing it safe. As a child, my parents privileged creativity over other things — pursuing that value system didn’t feel risky. I’m the product of my conditioning. And I think it’s about pursuing freedom. I knew from an early age that I found freedom and safety in playing other people. So maybe this is my version of playing it safe.
What are you most excited about for 2026?
Working in the US for the first time. The Other Place, a play we made at the National Theatre, is going to NYC at the start of the year. Then I’m shooting a film in Texas. And I’m excited to get my producer hat back on, to prep for another film shooting in France in 2027. And getting a cat.

EMILIA WEARS VISCOSE DRESS, JERSEY BRA, AND SILK BRIEFS, ALL GIVENCHY BY SARAH BURTON
EMILIA JONES
Coming-of-age film CODA gave Emilia Jones her breakthrough role, but with A24’s Tony, she’s reaching new heights.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
It wasn’t advice specifically given to me, but it was something Jessica Chastain said when we were on The Hollywood Reporter roundtable together. She said you have to live and work for the experience of working… and it should be something that fulfills you and helps you grow as a human being. She said if you spend your life focusing on how a project performs or how well it’s received then you’re going to be really unhappy. That really stayed with me.
When did you realize this was what you wanted to do, and that you weren’t meant to play it safe?
After I wrapped CODA, I spent six months working 65 hours a week on a Netflix TV show and I had sign-language lessons at the weekend… I was also studying for my A levels. It was a huge workload and being in nearly every scene of a film is a lot of pressure on young shoulders, but I didn’t mind missing out on the fun things my friends were doing because I felt so lucky to be given the opportunity to learn a language. It was tough, but it made me realize I perhaps had the resilience to be an actor. Enthusiasm is easy but endurance is a little harder.
What’s your favorite risk you’ve ever taken on set or in life?
CODA. I was 16 years old when I auditioned. I didn’t know any sign language, I wasn’t a professional singer, I’d never worked on a fishing trawler, and I wasn’t American. There were some huge names that went for that role, but for some reason Sian Heder, the director, saw something in me. It was a risk for her and it was a lot for me to take on at such a young age, but when it won the Oscar, I was so happy for everyone involved.

JOE WEARS GABARDINE JACKET, COTTON SHIRT, AND WOOL-GABARDINE PANTS, ALL DENZIL PATRICK
JOE ALWYN
Joe Alwyn commanded the screen in 2025’s The Brutalist. With Hamnet on the way, it seems as if 2026 will be no different.
If your life right now were a scene in a film, what would the opening shot be?
I’m doing a play right now and I’m spending a lot of time under a rain machine. Maybe the opening shot can be something like The Truman Show, where Jim Carrey is sitting on the beach and the heavens open up and it’s raining right on top of him, and him alone. I’m getting that eight times a week right now.
When did you realize this was what you wanted to do, and that you weren’t meant to play it safe?
I’m not sure there was a lightbulb moment. But I used to run around the house as a tiny person and carve little Zs for ‘Zorro’ under tables and behind radiators and inside cupboards. I just wanted to ride horses and sword fight and impress Catherine Zeta-Jones.
What are you most excited about FOR 2026?
I’m excited for people to see Chloé Zhao’s beautiful film,Hamnet. But first, there’s another 50 or so shows [of The Lady from the Sea] to get through at The Bridge. A lot of rain to dry off from.

ALICIA WEARS CUSTOM 3D-PRINTED CORSET, HARRIS REED X PORTA ROMANA. RIBBON SKIRT, HARRIS REED
ALICIA VIKANDER
Next year, Oscar winner Alicia Vikander is flexing her genre-defying capabilities as she joins Taylor Russell and Hoyeon in the South Korean science fiction thriller, Hope.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
One of the most liberating things I’ve been told is, ‘In the end no one really cares, and that’s great.’
When did you realize you wanted to be an actor?
After watching Romeo + Juliet 25 times in the cinema at the age of nine.
I want to be remembered as…
The person who throws the best parties.

FELICITY WEARS WOOL TOP, COTTON SKIRT, AND WOOL HAT, ALL DURAN LANTINK
FELICITY JONES
Felicity Jones has been the face of many films, but in feminist fable 100 Nights of Hero, it’s her efforts both in front of and behind the camera that confirm her visionary status.
If your life right now were a scene in a film, what would the opening shot be?
Running along the beach with a pumping Kate Bush song belting out.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Always make the call! Don’t shy away from picking up your phone and having difficult conversations when they are needed. You’ve always gotta make the call.
If you could steal any role in history, who would you play?
I love all of Diane Keaton’s roles — I’d have loved any of them.

LASHANA WEARS RECYCLED-POLYESTER JACKET, Y-3 SPORT. WOOL-MIX SKIRT, TAO. COPPER EARRINGS, PANCONESI. LEATHER BELT, GIVENCHY BY SARAH BURTON. LEATHER SHOES, LOEWE

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
To drink water and mind your business. It gets more helpful the older we get.
What’s the role you haven’t played yet but know is somewhere in you?
I have funny bones that are being wasted away, so a comedy should happen someday.
What’s your favorite risk you’ve ever taken on set or in life?
Being consistently audacious when someone is trying to shrink you. It does wonders.

JEFF WEARS WOOL JACKET AND WOOL AND SILK SWEATER, BOTH SAINT LAURENT BY ANTHONY VACCARELLO. GLASSES, JACQUES MARIE MAGE. GROOMING DAVID COX
JEFF GOLDBLUM
Over the last two years, Jeff Goldblum has gracefully taken on the role of The Wizard of Oz for Jon M. Chu’s Wicked. But, he’s set to retire his emerald green robes in 2026 as he steps into the shoes of Donald Trefusis in Stephen Fry’s The Liar.
If your life right now were a scene in a film, what would the opening shot be?
A clear blue sky with a bird passing through.
When did you realize this was what you wanted to do, and that you weren’t meant to play it safe?
When I was 10 years old in summer camp in Pittsburgh, after I performed the lead role in Belle of the Balkans.
What’s your favorite risk you’ve ever taken on set or in life?
Beginning our family.
Finish the sentence: I want to be remembered as…
A force for good.

GRACE WEARS TOP, CHLOé
GRACE BOWERS
19-year-old Grace Bowers is the face of a new generation of guitarists whose music is sending shock waves through the industry.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Sounds corny but it’s helped me a lot- replace your fear with excitement.
What’s your most memorable moment on stage?
I do this “Purple Rain” lick in one of our songs and right as I started playing it at the Montreal Jazz Fest, rain started pouring down. I’ll never forget looking out and seeing all different colored umbrellas go up at once!
If you weren’t doing this what would you be doing?
To be honest I really don’t know. Probably living in a van somewhere in California, sounds like a peaceful way to be.
What’s the biggest risk you’ve ever taken, in life or career?
Not going to my last two and a half years of high school.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Stubborn, loyal, and persistent.
What are you most excited about for 2026?
New music and touring.

NOOMI WEARS LEATHER JACKET AND SEASHELL-EMBELLISHED SATIN BRA, BOTH DILARA FINDIKOGLU. COTTON PANTS, HED MAYNER. ROSE-GOLD, ONYX, DIAMOND AND ROSE-GOLD, AND DIAMOND AND GOLD EARRINGS, ALL CARTIER
NOOMI RAPACE
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’s Noomi Rapace found her success in the world of thrillers. That genre is embracing her once more as she begins work on No Man’s Land and Stratagem.
If your life right now were a scene in a film, what would the opening shot be?
Wide shot of the black beach in Iceland. We see a small figure running full speed towards us. The camera coming closer and closer and landing on an extreme close-up of the eye and then disappearing into the eye.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Zoom out and see yourself from above. Who is this woman? Would I like myself? Would I respect myself? Would I want to be my friend? My child? My partner?
When did you realize this was what you wanted to do, and that you weren’t meant to play it safe?
I guess I just can’t play safe. I love truth and life. This is what I try to bring to the screen. The truth is never safe. But somehow always seems to be liberating, eventually.

RIZ WEARS LEATHER JACKET, BOTTEGA VENETA. JEWELRY, RIZ’S OWN
RIZ AHMED
Riz Ahmed has won Oscars and Emmys for his work on screen. Now he’s ready for a new challenge – debuting his very own TV show.
What’s your favorite risk you’ve ever taken on set or in life?
Flying to LA on an £800 flight, when I had £1,000 in my bank account to audition for Nightcrawler.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Don’t categorize yourself.
Finish the sentence: I want to be remembered as…
Someone who tried to stretch culture.
What are you most excited about for 2026?
I created a TV show from scratch for the first time. It’ll be on Amazon in the new year. It’s like nothing I’ve done before. I can’t wait to share it.

CHARITHRA CHANDRAN
After a career-altering turn in Netflix’s Bridgerton, Charithra Chandran is determined to showcase her versatility, starting with One Piece and Schooled.
If your life right now were a scene in a film, what would the opening shot be?
In the kitchen, cooking 10 things for a dinner party, taking a work call and answering emails all at the same time, inevitably burning something (food or myself). Chaos.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Marcus Aurelius wrote, ‘You could leave life right now. Let that determine what you do and say and think.’ Which I take to mean: Life is short and not certain; live authentically and well.
What are you most excited about for 2026?
I’ve got two very different TV shows coming out, both in genre and in character, around the same time — One Piece for Netflix and Schooled for Channel 4. I’m excited for people to see my range and a different side to me.

MATTHEW WEARS SHARKSKIN HERRINGBONE JACKET AND PANTS, BOTH TOM FORD. COTTON TANK TOP, CALVIN KLEIN. LEATHER SHOES, BOTTEGA VENETA
MATTHEW GOODE
Dept. Q was the 2025 Netflix crime series that thrilled viewers across the world. Now, its leading man, Matthew Goode, is gearing up for season 2.
If your life right now were a scene in a film, what would the opening shot be?
At the moment, it would be a slow push-in of a man hitting golf balls and getting increasingly more angry, until by the time we arrive at a close-up, veins are standing out in ‘our hero’s’ face. He’s sweating profusely and looks like he’s about to murder someone. I’m currently practicing for the [Alfred] Dunhill Links [Championship] and haven’t played in two years.
What’s your favorite risk you’ve ever taken on set or in life?
In life, plucking up the courage to kiss a very beautiful girl I found intimidating. Very risky at the time. Luckily, we have been together for over 20 years and she is now my wife. She’s the bee’s knees.
If you could steal any role in history, who would you play?
Roles must be earned. And while we are here, can I say my least favorite phrase with regards to acting is, ‘he steals his scenes’. Hateful.

GWENDOLINE WEARS LEATHER COAT, LANVIN
GWENDOLINE CHRISTIE
After spending 2025 at Wednesday’s Nevermore Academy, Gwendoline Christie is ready to grapple with her next hit.
If your life right now were a scene in a film, what would the opening shot be?
The scene would be from Melancholia where Justine lays naked beneath the hypnotic glow of the approaching and foreboding planet, deeply connected to the imminent catastrophe.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
‘Don’t bother.’
If you could steal any role in history, who would you play? Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? — Taylor’s and Burton’s performances.

CLAIRE FOY
Claire Foy graced indie cinema for the moving marvel H Is for Hawk. With Andrew Garfield and Nicola Coughlan by her side, she’s returning to the big screen in The Magic Faraway Tree.
When did you realize you wanted to be an actor?
It wasn’t necessarily something I wanted to do but something I had to do.
If you could steal any role in history, who would you play?
Ginger Rogers’ [part] in Top Hat.
What are you most excited about for 2026? H Is for Hawk and The Magic Faraway Tree and something else I’m not allowed to talk about… yet.

DAFNE WEARS SHEARLING COAT, AND PATENT-LEATHER BRA AND BELT, BOTH LUDOVIC DE SAINT SERNIN
DAFNE KEEN
From Deadpool & Wolverine to His Dark Materials, Dafne Keen has a roster of notable projects under her belt. Upcoming comedy The Marshmallow Experiment is the next one she’s adding to her list.
When did you realise this was what you wanted to do, and that you weren’t meant to play it safe?
The first time I set foot on a film set I immediately knew I belonged. It felt like something way bigger than me, and I completely fell in love with the idea of a group of people coming together to create something that captures the human experience. I knew I’d do anything to be able to experience that for the rest of my life.
What’s your favourite risk you’ve ever taken on set or in life?
I think telling people that you love them is always a risk worth taking. I think caring in general is a risk to one’s emotions, but it’s always worth it.
Finish the sentence: I want to be remembered as…
Generous.

SONAM WEARS WOOL JACKET AND LEATHER BROOCH, BOTH ALAÏA. HAIR PATRICK WILSON AT THE WALL GROUP USING HAIR BY SAM MCKNIGHT. MAKEUP KENNETH SOH
SONAM KAPOOR
Sonam Kapoor took a short break from Bollywood domination. But now, with a newfound sense of self, she’s more than ready to make her return.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
The best advice usually comes from my father, Anil Kapoor. When I was younger he told me not to chase anything – including success or men. The only thing worth chasing was excellence. [He told me] to have perseverance and to be hard-working. Then, everything would follow. [He told me it was important] to work on yourself and better yourself when it comes to your personal, emotional, physical and spiritual self and to be really good at what you do. Just working towards being the best version of yourself is the best advice I’ve gotten from my dad.
What’s your favourite risk you’ve ever taken on set or in life?
I feel like nothing in life is a risk unless it has something to do with your health. I think everything that I do is done with conviction and because I want to do it. Working too many hours and burning the candle at both ends, especially since I’ve become a mom, is risky because health is wealth, and sometimes that takes a toll on my health. I know people consider choosing to work on films likeNeerja, Aisha, Khoobsurat, orRaanjhana to be unconventional or risky, but I never thought of it in that way. I thought of them as stories that I wanted to tell. I was so convinced by them.
What are you most excited about for 2026?
Where my work and family are concerned, I feel like my life is expanding in a lot of ways. I think it is about embracing that side of myself. Now that I have entered my 40s, I have never felt better and more sure of who I am. I also have two very exciting projects in the pipeline. One will be announced very soon. I am looking forward to being on the set again!
